State Award

Our engineering firm IPJ is one of the winners of the Austrian State Award for Architecture and Sustainability, which was formally awarded in Innsbruck. The State Award is the highest award of the Republic of Austria for sustainable building.

The jury expressly praised the innovative energy concept for the Montforthaus event building in Feldkirch/Vorarlberg, which we developed for the project. “Comfort ventilation, a heat pump and consistent use of waste heat are building blocks for strong sustainability performance,” stressed the experts, praising the versatile construction as “a house for all occasions”. The architectural association of Hascher Jehle (Berlin) and Mitiska Wäger (Bludenz) is responsible for the architecture of the organically curved, reinforced concrete structure, with a natural stone façade that blends harmoniously into its surroundings on the edge of the old town. The international jury of experts selected five projects from 76 submissions – including Montforthaus – and praised them as “flagship projects for sustainable building”. “We just feel like we won an Oscar,” says Patrick Jung.

Top rank

In the current ranking of the competitionline platform, our firm came second in the energy consultant category. In the building physicist category, we improved by two places and jumped up into the top ten. The competitionline.com portal is an important platform for architectural and engineering competitions. Once a year, a team of German architects, journalists and IT professionals evaluates all the competition results published on competitionline.com, and from this a ranking is created of the firms that have participated in competitions with the greatest success. In the field of energy consultants, the IPJ firm, with its successful contributions from Cologne, Vienna and Hamburg, secured second place right behind the division winner Transsolar Energietechnik GmbH. We would like to thank the architects and all our colleagues in the cooperating engineering firms, and we look forward to further joint competitions.

innovation city ruhr

The Ruhr area city of Bottrop has risen to the challenge to demonstrate – within the scope of the project Innovation City Ruhr – the conversion into a sustainable and environmentally friendly city. The ambitious objective is to cut down to half the energy consumption and the CO2 emissions, to increase the quality of life and to secure the industrial location at the same time. The IPJ firm supports this process together with the partners of the EcoCommercial Building Network through the concept development and planning for two PlusEnergy buildings.

Being a Guest at Bellevue Palace

Some 200 pioneering environmental and nature conservation projects were presented at the fourth “Woche der Umwelt”, on 5 and 6 June 2012 in the castle gardens of Bellevue Palace, the official residence of the German President. One of them is the research project “TEK – Partial  energy coefficients of non-residential buildings”, where IPJ works closely together with the non-profit Institute Wohnen und Umwelt IWU.

An independent jury has selected projects for the event that particularly distinguished themselves in terms of quality, innovation and model character. More than 12,000 visitors informed themselves – both by speaking with the invited exhibitors and in numerous professional forums and discussion groups – about innovative approaches with regard to climate protection.
